Well, I've been lurking around enough, so I decided it was time to let all the toolbags know a bit about me.
I hadn't played darts since my teens/early twenties. My Dad was in the US Army, so I lived in Germany for many years and was fortunate to visit England several times. I was in the Army from 88-91 ( first Gulf War) and in '89 I was selected to go to Wales as part of an exchange program. I can't remember the town the base was at, but I do remember the unit was called the "Queens own regiment" and their slogan was "Ich Dein". As I recall, that meant "I serve"? Anyhoo, being only 18 I spent most of my time pissed, attempting to meet girls, and trying to play darts. I was very good at getting pissed.
I took a long hiatus from darts, except the occasional pub game. Back in October there was a charity dart tournament at my local, so I signed up. It was soft-tip ( oops did I forget to mention I live near Gettysburg, PA) and open in/open out 301. I ended up winning the darn thing, so I am hooked again. I bought a steeltip board and started practicing and have been lookin at the local leagues, most of which are about 20-40 minutes away.
We play a lot of cricket and 301 double out at my local. I have started hitting more tons and a few nights ago i hit two 140's. Man, I was over the moon. I still haven't hit the 180 in practice, but I feel it coming. My double 16 is pretty strong. In cricket, I am pretty consistent and really enjoy the game. However, I am in completely in love with English darts. I paid for PDCTv and it is been very educational and exciting for me. Someday, I am making a trip to one of the events.
Anyway, that's a bit about me. I love this forum, BTW. I'll keep you posted. Cheers!
