With my first competitive darts out of the way, this is my diary. When I got the night going with a 114 against Gazz, I knew that it was going to be a good night on the doubles.
Scoring was atrocious all night. It was the League Cup. I play for Morton 1. We were playing Norseman 2 as well as Morton 1.
First match was against a woman from Norseman 2. My scoring was horrible and she was much better, but our guy made a mistake on the board with the scoring and she had a hissy fit. This started a HUUUUUUUUGE shouting match which just kept going for ages. I just stood there and kept calm and this probably turned out to be the right idea. I came down to 42 and accidentally hit 4, hit 19 and then bust the score. Came back to it when the woman missed double 1 raging. I then went onto hit 6 and then double 18 and BAM ! First ever competitive win.
Second match was nothing to write home about. It was a doubles and we quite frankly got rode, mainly down to my crap scoring and the terrific scoring of the other team. Never even got the chance to take out 55. Grrrrr.
Onto Morton 2.
Third match was non-descript too. Crap scoring as usual, but the other guy, John Paul played well below his own standard, and he gave me a shot at 50. So I took 14 first, and went for my beloved double 18, but hit double 4 instead, so I switched over and hit the double 14 to get win number 2.
I need to improve my scoring big time, but if I can, I can really see things going well.

Oh right. Got mixed up.
I'm liking that double 18 at the moment.
I had 55 going up to the board if I got a chance at it in the doubles match. Was livid when that guy took out double 20. Unlike that woman, I was actually gracious in defeat.

Lost a doubles game, which I can take as I don't think I played too badly. Had troubles on the doubles of which I've never had before though. Usually I miss by margins, but this time, there was HUGE distance between target and dart.

I actually played this week. Shocking I know.
Suffered a rather brutal 2-0 defeat to a guy called Willie Marshall. He did a 16 and a 17 darter against me, and I still managed to get down to an outshot in both legs so I'm not exactly unhappy with the way I played. I showed some improvement when it comes to actual match play which has pleased me. I'm still suffering from rushing darts in competitive darts though and sending them off the board. This needs to be rectified.
Lost 2-0 in a doubles game. I really didn't play well and my partner, Kenny, basically carried the team to a reasonable performance but it wasn't enough. Had a bad game, so I'm not that bothered really. Just need to get the chin up because ...
BATTLE OF THE TOOLBAGS !!!
Me and Kenny vs. gazz and GraizzA. Three toolbags in one match in the IDL Pairs. w00t! I'm confident to the extent that I know if I play the way I played in my first match of last night, we have a super chance of going through, but I've seen what the other two are capable of. It's going to be close either way.

I won't be worried. If I worry, we lose, and we can't be having that. I'm going into this with one mindset. Play the way I can and there's a good chance we can pull off what I admit would be a bit of a shock. If I start to worry about the way you and Graham are going to play ( and I'd have good reason to be worried ), then that would be a mere distraction, which I can do without. I have enough distractions without the actual match being one as well. It's kinda weird, but I'm almost going into this expecting to win. I'm glad about that as it shows that the confidence issues are well and truly gone.

3-0 tonight.
I didn't play too badly. Got one shot at a double and took it which was good, and hit a cracking 115 score to leave my team-mate 24 which ended up winning us the game. We were lucky in that it never took us anymore than one visit to hit the double. Can't see that sort of finishing happening very often. Played one of the Barillis after all was done and my finishing was woeful.
Speaking of said game, the entire thing was woeful.
Doesn't matter to me though. Got the win that mattered and it's onto next week. Hopefully I've done enough to get another match.

3-0 defeat this time.
Mind was in another place, but somehow managed to fixate myself on the board and not play too badly, which caught me by surprise. My practice up to this match was woeful so I was thinking that this was going to be a bad night, but it was yet another encouraging sign, this time that even when the shit has hit the fan, I'm still able to go to the board and put out something decent.
Guy I was playing was way superior though. I was told earlier that day that sometimes he turns up and sometimes he doesn't. Well this time, he definately turned up.
No complaints.

A few more losses under my belt. Was terrible last week and the Inverclyde Open won't go down as a proud day either. Last night seen an improvement at least. Got beat 2-1. The number of chances I had to win the last two legs was unreal. The one which annoys me the most is the double 7 I had where I pushed the wire with the first and then the second darts, before being equally close on the other side of the double with my third dart. That'll haunt me for a while. Got a few 80+ scores and a 100+ score which is definate improvement. I've been sensing a turn in fortunes for a while and the fact that I took a leg is change enough.
