SOUTH AFRICAN cop Charles Losper celebrated victory at the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship yesterday – a week after killing an armed robber in a supermarket raid in which his Flying Squad colleague died.
Losper revealed his astonishing story just moments after beating Guyana’s Sudesh Fitzgerald, 22, 6-4 in legs during a qualifying match at Alexandra Palace.
“Three days before I arrived here I was involved in an armed robbery and one of my colleagues was shot and died,” said Losper.
“We had to shoot back and unfortunately I fatally wounded one of the suspects.
“Some people would think it is a planned thing for me to be here, but at home when you shoot somebody you get suspended immediately.
“It’s really difficult not to let it play on my mind, but I feel my most relaxed when I play darts.”
Losper will now face Colin Osborne tomorrow night and his progress means he has guaranteed himself at least £5,000 in the richest world darts tournament in history on a return trip he knew would happen.
Losper, 39, who was beaten in the first round last year, said: “I made a promise then that I’d be back.”

I would find it hard to shoot someone, but it comes with the job.

Good on him, but just think..if he was to win the tournament he'd think it was lucky and he'd have to shoot some poor bugger before every match.
