Not exactly a week, but more like nine days. But I wanted to make sure my weeks start on Monday finish on Sunday, then I can post results and analyze on the Monday before moving on again.
Before I go into the first weeks report and analysis I will tell you the basic rules that I am going to be adhering to:-
* No more than 5% to be staked in any one cash game
* No more than 5% in any one STT
* No more than 2-3% in any one MTT
* Taking shots at higher levels IS allowed but if you lose more than 20% of buyin then get out of there!
* Set aside 8-10 hours per week for hand analysis and study
* Post at least 10 hand examples on various fora for analysis
* Have fun because poker is not a job at this moment in time
Now those rules are out of the way here is the run down of what has happened this past week or so.
So far my $25 has turned into $289.07 over what equates to 7 days of play. The first two days I only played one or two STTs just to get myself really hungry and up for playing more poker. Since Saturday 28/6 that is where my serious challenge began.
Until Tuesday 1/7 there wasn't really much movement in my bankroll. It seemed to stay around $35/$36 without me doing much. Then out of the blue I placed 4th in the $5.50 entry $350 GTD PLO tournament, cashing in for $35.50 taking my bankroll up to $64.27.
From there my confidence has grown and I have really put the hours in. On Thursday 3/7 I grinded out enough hours to get my bankroll up to about $160! I decided now was time for a quick spin up at $0.10/$0.25 to boost me into the $200 mark. Played five hands and left as I didn't feel comfortable doing this. So I played at $0.05/$0.10 instead and tripled my buyin quite quickly with a good run of cards, and dodging a couple of bullets on the way.
By Friday 4/7 I got my bankroll to $220, and felt like announcing to forums that I was ready to do the challenge. I didn't want to say anything on 26/6 when i deposited the original $25 because I didn't know in myself if I could take my new mindset to the table with me. As soon as I reached 4/7 I knew that I could maintain the discipline required to tackle something like this properly.
A lot of kind people have left me messages, and said I can expect some difficulties, so I do have some future planning ahead. I do know that whatever my objectives are short and long term, I will dedicate myself 100% to doing my best. I can only try, the cards have as much of a say as me and if variance doesn't go in my favour then there's nothing I can do. All I can do is make the decision that on average has the highest expectation.

ANALYSIS ON MY PLAY THIS WEEK
________________________________________
Overall I feel that my table selection has been good. Before I would sit at the first available table, but I am now sitting where there are a lot of chips to play for and I am reaping the rewards so far.
I think overall I have played very well, but variance has been on my side too. I have seen AA five times this week and haven't lost with them once. I got dealt AA twice in three hands which was rather funny. I was in the BB and it folded round to the cutoff, who shoved all in for $10. So he shoved 100xBB! Obviously I instacall the bet and he turns over KK. My hand holds up and I double through. Two hands later...I get dealt the rockets while on the button. I raise 3.5xBB to $0.35, a few limpers, then the guy who shoved with KK shoved for his new $10 stack again! I was laughing in my chair because if he had KK again that would be sick. It was even sicker - he had the other Rockets! No nasty 4 card flushes came so PKR won some cash and we lost a small percentage of our stack.
There haven't been any severely poor plays on my part really, I think I've played pretty solid poker. I just need to keep that going now. My bankroll stands at $289.07 as of today (Monday 7/7) which is a marvellous first week. However all the following weeks will not be so easy.

THIS WEEKS GOALS
_______________________________________________
* Use some poker points to satellite into different tournaments such as Phase 1, APPT Macau and PKR Masters $100k GTD
* Continue playing cash within bankroll requirements
* Play a $10 buyin MTT at some point
I don't want to set monetary targets as that isn't within my control as such, but I would love to be able to reach $500 by the end of play on Sunday 13/7!!!
Thanks for reading guys.
