Interesting that they have him stepping up and going for a world title. I don't follow boxing much but I hear that Frank Warren is usually a much more careful promoter than that.

the reason is the king of the lightweights would destroy KHAN, its a foookin joke, he's a foookin joke, and Warren knows it! but there's to much money tied up in Khan and everyone involved with him, this champ he's fighting, who is he?, ive never heard of him???, prescicely, he's just a lucky Bum, i hope Khan gets k.o'd but he won't

Kotelnik turned pro in 2000 and won his first 23 bouts prior to losing to Souleymane M'baye in Paris in 2004 via split decision. In 2005 he lost in a European title clash to Junior Witter on a close unanimous decision, but later in the year defeated former Olympic gold medallist Mohamad Abdulaev. Kotelnik beat Gavin Rees for the WBA light-welterweight title on 22nd March 2008 in the Cardiff International Arena via 12th round TKO and made his first successful defence in his hometown of L'viv against Japanese champion Norio Kimura.
Kotelnik was scheduled to face Dmitriy Salita on the undercard of the Joe Calzaghe / Roy Jones Jr. clash in November 2008, but had to pull out due to injury. Consequently, he faced mandatory challenger Marcos Maidana on February 7th 2009 in Rostock. The fight went the full 12 rounds with Kotelnik being the winner.

No "fook" up here. I've rarely seen anyone more comfortable over 12 rounds than Amir Khan was last night. Kotelnik may have won a round or two, but I can't really fault the judge who scored all 12 rounds in Khan's favour. Kotelnik also tested Khan's chin a few times and to be fair to Khan, he hardly even shook initially, which is an improvement.

he done alright, was the easiest way to get the world title. if he picks the right fights for the next few till he sorts out his defense he could be a star in the making.
