PDC averages are definitely higher. Barney had quite a few shots at a double in the final against Taylor - remember that a lot of sets went 3-2 so it wasn't a complete hammering.

True Donnie but watch it back and look at the number of time he left 32 and other doubles & all the times he left 41 - 63 each of these shots would have lowered his average even if he'd hit at the first time of asking. So many legs where he was just scoring and never throwing for a finish does make his average artificially high.

It'd be silly to put down the talent of the BDO players, especially with that tournament just past, and you have to imagine that there's more players like Chisnall and Gurney that didn't make the Lakeside stage that are better than the likes of Salmon.
I might be wrong with the strength in depth comments I've made too, and that's because of players like Chisnall and Gurney who basically came out of nowhere and gave Adams a real scare, and played well in doing so. Surely there's lots more like them ?

Actually, looking at the differences of the averages, here are the BDO and PDC top 10 for their respective WCs.
BDO
1. Simon Whitlock - 93.12 2. Martin Adams - 92.83 3. Gary Robson - 92.59 4. Gary Anderson - 92.46 5. Daryl Fitton - 92.29 6. Ted Hankey - 92.20 7. Stephen Bunting - 91.48 8. Scott Waites - 91.12 9. Tony O'Shea - 90.68 10. Ross Montgomery - 89.61
PDC
1. Phil Taylor - 105.31 2. Raymond Van Barneveld - 100.05 3. Colin Osbourne - 96.37 4. Andy Hamilton - 95.19 5. Robert Thornton - 95.04 6. Andy Jenkins - 94.57 7. Jelle Klaasen - 94.05 8. Wayne Mardle - 93.83 9. Michael Barnard - 93.65 10. Vincent Van Der Voort - 93.44
I think that's quite telling.

I think if the BDO players play the PDC, they will generally up their average 3/4 points at least, there is not a lot between them in fairness.
