When I am scoring I tend to focus on the left hand end (near 5) of the treble twenty as I throw from slightly left of the oche and push more darts right (using the Jack Nicklaus theory that if you naturally draw a golf ball just aim right, dont try to adjust you natural swing) .. anyone else do this or am I a freak ??

You're a freak Nah it's whatever you're comfortable with. I myself have a (what I regard as) a unique throw, I pick the dart up & throw it without no pause. No stopping for aim in front of my eye or anything.

Mate of mine does that ... he aint bad either, last week he was having a stinker in the league 1-0 down opponent on a double, wanted 239, hit 180, oppo missed double, hit 59 in 2 darts and won decider in 16 darts (finished 179 in 4 darts).
When it goes wrong it goes horribly wrong, but once he starts hitting he is a bit useful ;D

i have a thumb and 3 finger grip on the dart and when scoring aim between the thumb and forefinger join/nook, but when doubling pretty much use the same refernce point but my thumb blocks what i am aiming at so i am effectively throwing blind !!! yes i am special my shrink often tells me so lol

I aim at the top wire for my first dart and then try and hit the barrel of that dart after that to deflect into the treble. Seems to work for me!

If you can consistently throw in a straight line it doesn't matter what you look at! The twenty bed has a portion that is straight down from the middle of the board to half way across the board. Each throw should naturally be aimed at the middle of this area, so you have a wide margin to hit. Some darts will go above the treble with others going below;but once in a few throws you should be able to hit the treble with ease. Players who hit trebles consistently can do this without any problems. Find a throw that allows your darts to be thrown in a straight line;it doesn't matter on their height as your next throw can be thrown a little higher/lower. Listen to an expert and not the rest on here: don't worry what to look at or copy other players throws; practise not to hit targets but to find a technique to throw in a straight line. You'll then be able to hit 100, 140, 180 and take on the 9 darter soon!
