Thank god for that. And at the score I predicted as well. That's three correct winners and two scores. My night has been fairly good so far.

When Part picked it up, Davis held the nerve. That was very important and I think that's what will see him through here.

Screw the prediction game, I was extremely happy with that result. It's not as if Part was playing badly. Davis played some incredible darts there.
Take a bow sir.

Rodriguez took advantage of Scholten's problems and did well in the end to get through.
French and Nagawawa did not perform to their best, as 55 avg suggests, they are much better than that. I thought it was disrespectful of Sky to take it off the air, it makes a mockery of darts in their nations, how is darts to progress in those countries, if the host broadcaster cares so little about the progression of the game in their areas.
Thornton played well and deserved the win despite missing the odd double.
Davis was brilliant, Part a little under par but Davis had to keep calm and composed and did so.
Stompe was decent and was worthy of the win in the end.

i think sky did the right thing, u cant lose to many viewers on the 1st night of ur big comp. that game even had me turning the channel. better to build up the rest of the card than watch pub darts on prime time viewing

Its all fine and well saying its a mockerey out of these countries darts but from a spectators point of view you dont wait all year to watch pub standard darts at a world championships. I know that these players are there to try and make the sport more global and give these countries a chance at playing on the world stage but in all fairness they have had a pretty easy and costless route into the world championships where as players that spend money hand over fist travelling and playing tournaments who are a hell of a lot better than these players are not being rewarded for their efforts and instead world championship places going to players who could never get past the first round of a floor tournament. Wouldnt it be a better idea if the P.D.C were to have something like a mini tour in these countries where all players are able to compete and then the top players from that have a qualifier to win a place in the worlds?? Better chance of getting a good player competing.

Stompe was decent and was worthy of the win in the end. Rodriguez didn't do as well as he can. Towards the end, he picked things up and Scholten quite simply had no answer for him. Scholten's doubles were actually pretty impressive. They gave me a fright, but Rodriguez was able to pull it out when it mattered. Disrespectful or not, Sky did the right thing. This tournament is darts biggest showcase, so they basically had to undermime the match to say "hey, it's not our fault !". It'll be interesting to see that if a first round match goes just as badly, it gets taken off the air. Agree on the Thornton comment and that's going to be one to watch. Will missed doubles like that go unpunished against a better player ? Only if they are doing the exact same thing. I am worried about this one. If Davis plays like he did there, he can get himself up the rankings in this tournament alone. He's not letting the nerves get to him, as you pointed out. He couldn't have asked for a better draw in the next round IMO, no matter who goes through. Stompe played far better than I've ever seen him on TV. He's always been a very steady thrower, but his entire demeanor was different last night. He seems to have gotten used to the glitz of the PDC. He's enjoying himself.
